Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha has criticised the Congress government for failing to fulfill promises made to backward classes (BCs) under the Kamareddy BC Declaration. She warned that the BRS will not remain silent if the government neglects BC welfare or avoids implementing 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local body elections.

During a meeting at her residence won Tuesday, Kavitha expressed outrage at the government’s apathy toward BC issues. She stated that despite being in power for over a year, the Congress has not implemented a single promise made to the BC community during the elections.

The BRS MLC also condemned delays in funds for the fee reimbursement and Jyothiba Phule Scholarship schemes, stressing that BC students are facing severe hardships. She accused the Congress of neglecting caste-based professions by failing to provide minimum support.

Emphasising unity among BCs, Kavitha called for collective action to ensure the implementation of promised welfare measures. She pointed out that revolutionary welfare initiatives for BCs were introduced during former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s tenure and charged the Congress with attempting to scrap them. She demanded the government to disclose its spending on BC welfare.

The representatives of United Phule Front and Telangana Mudiraj Mahasabha, and Vishwakarma Knowledge Centre chief Viswanathula Pushpagiri were among those present.
