Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan has shot off an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of repeatedly making contemptuous and anti-constitutional remarks against the judiciary and the legal fraternity. He demanded that Revanth Reddy immediately withdraw his comments, tender an unconditional public apology, and give a written undertaking not to repeat such conduct.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s speech at Meerkhanpet on September 28, Sravan recalled that Revanth Reddy advised farmers not to approach the court against land acquisition unnecessarily and end up losing their money towards advocate fee in either case of winning or losing. He said such words undermine the justice system and discourage citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. “For the weak, the courts are not a luxury but the last refuge. By ridiculing them, you are shutting that final window of hope,” he wrote.

The MLC pointed out a pattern of misconduct in Revanth Reddy’s statements where he alleged that Kavitha’s bail in the Delhi liquor case was a deal, mocked the Tenth Schedule and dismissed court interventions in the Kancha Gachibowli case. He reminded the Chief Minister that the Supreme Court had already reprimanded and warned him against such indiscretions in the past.

Calling the Chief Minister’s remarks a direct insult to advocates and a conscious attempt to silence the people, Sravan warned that they strike at the heart of the Constitution. “On one hand Congress leader Rahul Gandhi travels the country championing the Constitution, while here in Telangana, you demean its very core. This is glaring hypocrisy,” he charged.
