Hyderabad: Dasoju Sravan, BRS MLC, strongly condemned the attack on a BC family in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool district that led to the death of a two-month-old baby, terming it a murder of democracy and a blot on civilised society.
Alleging failure of law and order in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s district, Sravan said the assault over alleged non-payment of a temple entry fee reflected casteism backed by power. He accused the local police of acting as a private army of the ruling party and harassing the victims by filing counter-cases instead of protecting them. The BRS MLC demanded that those involved in the attack be booked under Section 103(2) of the BNS for mass violence leading to death and punished severely. He also called for immediate suspension of police officers who allegedly misused their authority and sought action against them under Section 248 of the BNS.
He also demanded high-level security for the victim’s family, withdrawal of cases filed against them, and government compensation. Warning that the government cannot silence people’s voices, Sravan said Telangana society would not tolerate such injustice.
