BRS MLC Sravan urges Rahul Gandhi to restore democratic dignity in Telangana
In an open letter to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, BRS MLC D Sravan cited instances where the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy allegedly abused BRS leaders in the Assembly and made offensive comments in front of school children.
Hyderabad: Raising serious objection to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s unparliamentary language and Telangana government’s mockery of the Constitution, BRS MLC D Sravan asked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to intervene and restore democratic dignity in Telangana.
In an open letter to the Congress MP and AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday, the BRS MLC narrated a few occasions when the Chief Minister made vulgar and objectionable comments about opposition party leaders.
Referring to the Chief Minister’s language in the Assembly a few days ago, he said it was a collapse of legislative dignity.
“Elected opposition MLAs and senior BRS leaders like KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, have been publicly abused with slurs such as “Badwe” in the Assembly. The use of phrases such as “will slit their tongue” signifies uncivilised character of the Chief Minister,” Sravan stressed.
He also recalled the Chief Minister’s derogatory comments made against BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao in the presence of school students.
During the unveiling ceremony of the former Prime Minister and late Rajiv Gandhi’s statue in Hyderabad recently, the Chief Minister, in front of school children, threatened to strip the clothes of the BRS chief and leave lizards in his pants. No parent would tolerate such a language in a classroom, he pointed out.
“As a custodian of the Congress party’s legacy, you should intervene and restore democratic dignity in Telangana. Demonstrate to the nation that you are willing to walk the talk,” Sravan appealed.
He also stressed that the people of Telangana would deliver a lesson that could upset the Congress party nationally if the Chief Minister was not mended or his regime brought to an end.
