BRS, opposition leaders arrested in Jangaon ahead of Revanth Reddy’s visit

JANGAON: Ahead of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s visit to Station Ghanpur on Sunday, mild tension prevailed here with several Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), TDP, CPM and MRPS leaders being taken into custody by the police.
A few BRS leaders were taken into custody from their houses at midnight on Saturday. BRS senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tatikonda Rajaiah was placed under house arrest. Heavy police force was deployed at his residence, following which BRS workers also assembled in large numbers.
The BRS leaders had announced that they would oppose the Chief Minister’s visit to Station Ghanpur. Accordingly, the police took several BRS leaders and cadre into preventive custody.
teMeanwhile, BJP leaders tried to burn an effigy of the Chief Minister at Jangaon chowrasta. However, the police reached the spot and prevented the BJP leaders, resulting in heated arguments.
