Siddipet: The BRS is preparing to organise grand festivities to mark 10 years of Siddipet district. Since the district was created by the BRS government on October 11, 2016, the BRS has decided to organise three-day festivities beginning on October 9.
The celebrations will commence with a 10K run at Government Degree College, Siddipet, at 6 a.m. on October 9. A “Yuvajana Sadassu” will be held on the Degree College premises at 11 a.m., in which students and youth from across the district will participate. A meeting of retired employees will be organised in the evening at TNGOs Bhavan, where they will discuss the progress of Siddipet and issues pertaining to employees.
On the following day, the organisers have planned a ‘Kavi Sammelanam’ at Vipanchi Auditorium, where poets, writers and other artists who played a key role in the Telangana statehood movement will gather. During the afternoon, there will be a meeting of traders at Rice Millers Bhavan. The organisers have also planned a food festival along the Necklace Road of Komati Cheruvu, where the day will conclude with a laser show highlighting Siddipet’s development and culture.
Women across the district will celebrate the formation day with rangolis on October 11, while BRS leaders will perform abhishekam to portraits of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and former Minister T Harish Rao, whom the party credits with fulfilling the decades-old dream of creating Siddipet as a separate district.
The organisers have also planned a massive public meeting at the High School ground, which is expected to be attended by over 10,000 people.
