Khammam: BRS cadres and leaders staged dharnas at Mahatma Gandhi statues across erstwhile Khammam on Thursday in protest against the Congress government’s failure to implement its ‘420 promises’.

The protests were staged marking the government’s completion of 420 days in power and Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary. BRS senior leaders Gundala Krishna, Bommera Rammurthy, the party town president Pagadala Nagarju and others submitted a petition to Mahatma Gandhi statue at Gandhi chowk in the city.

Speaking on the occasion the leaders alleged that during the Assembly elections, the Congress leaders had promised that the party would implement six guarantees within 100 days of coming to power. But the government failed to implement the guarantees.

In addition to that, the Congress leaders and ministers were lashing at the opposition parties for questioning the government’s failures, instead of addressing the problems of the poor and the farming community, Krishna said.

Similar protests were staged at Kothagudem district headquarters and other parts of the district following the call given by the BRS working president K T Rama Rao and submitted petitions to Gandhi statues.
