BRS releases chargesheet against Telangana Congress government over unfulfilled poll promises

The BRS on Wednesday released a chargesheet accusing the Congress government in Telangana of failing to fulfil election promises. KTR alleged mounting debt, incomplete farm loan waiver, unemployment, pending fee reimbursement and neglect of farmers, and announced a statewide campaign.

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday released a chargesheet against the Congress government, accusing it of failing on its election promises and delivering 1,000 days of distress to people of Telangana. The party working president KT Rama Rao, along with senior leaders T Harish Rao and others, released the chargesheet.

Addressing the gathering at Telangana Bhavan here, Rama Rao said the Congress promised 420 guarantees, 13 declarations including six prominent guarantees, but failed to fully implement its major commitments. “The Congress promised heaven within 100 days, but delivered hell for last 1,000 days,” he said. Calling the Congress rule as criminal waste, he accused it of turning Telangana into a State marked by destruction and distortion.

He stated that the Congress government accumulated Rs 4.5 lakh crore in debt without completing any new major development projects. He pointed out that the Congress promised Rs 50,000-crore farm loan waiver, but released only around Rs 20,000 crore.

The BRS working president slammed the Congress government for neglecting farmers, stating that Rythu Bandhu was stopped and irrigation facilities were being denied, while funds were being spent on expensive programmes like football matches. He warned that the BRS would oppose any move that harmed Telangana’s interests in Krishna and Godavari River waters.

On employment, Rama Rao alleged that the promised two lakh jobs in the first year had not materialised and termed the job calendar as a jobless calendar. He also raised the pending fee reimbursement dues, women’s welfare promises, pensions and issues concerning students and unemployed youth among others.

The former Minister criticised the government over law and order, alleged attacks on protesting unemployed youth and farmers, and accused it of targeting Opposition leaders. He characterised the Congress administration as “incompetence Pro Max, corruption Ultra Max and anarchy iMax,” he remarked.

The BRS is scheduled to stage a week-long Statewide campaign from September 2 to 8, including protests and distribution of “Baaki cards” (Due Cards) listing out the unfulfilled promises of the Congress government. Former Ministers and BRS deputy floor leaders T Harish Rao, P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Talsani Srinivas Yadav and other senior leaders attended the programme.
