Hyderabad: The BRS on Tuesday submitted a representation to the State government seeking the cancellation of the lease of Telangana Urdu Academy land to a private company. The party also demanded an independent probe into the matter.

Former BRS State Secretary and former Waqf Board member Waheed Ahmed submitted the representation at the Office of the Chief Secretary through the Secretary, Minorities Welfare Department.

The representation urged the government to keep G.O. Ms. No. 20 in abeyance. It also sought an independent inquiry into the entire process to verify whether all statutory procedures were followed and to cancel the lease if any irregularities were found.

Under G.O. Ms. No. 20, 1.04 acres of Telangana Urdu Academy land in Survey No. 29 at Dargah Hussain Shah Wali village, Serilingampally, was leased to NN Infra & Constructions for 30 years.

The BRS delegation alleged that the lease was granted without a transparent tender process, public notification or competitive bidding. It raised concerns over transparency and compliance with government rules and legal procedures.

Ahmed said the land was originally allotted for promoting the Urdu language, culture and activities of the Telangana Urdu Academy and should not be diverted for private commercial purposes.
