Hyderabad: A BRS delegation on Tuesday urged Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy to extend the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging shortcomings in its implementation. The party said the existing deadline was inadequate and demanded an extension to ensure eligible voters were not inconvenienced.
The delegation, comprising BRS SIR Coordination Committee members MLC L Ramana, former MLC Karne Prabhakar, party leaders Sumitra Anand, Y Satish Reddy and Abhilash Rangineni, raised concerns over the functioning of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the field level, technical issues and difficulties faced by voters, particularly in rural areas.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Karne Prabhakar said the party had sought clarifications on several issues but had not received any response from the Election Commission. He said the CEO had forwarded the party’s representation to the Election Commission of India, but no response had been received so far. He urged the Commission to address the pending representations and resolve issues arising during the SIR process without delay.
