BRS seeks Governor’s intervention, anticipating threat to KCR’s life

A BRS delegation led by KT Rama Rao met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday and sought his intervention over alleged police manhandling of legislators, restrictions on Assembly entry and an alleged attack on K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence. The Governor assured them he would examine the issues.

Hyderabad: The BRS sought Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s intervention into the atrocities of the Congress government, including the assault on BRS legislators and women MLAs, restrictions on their entry into the legislature and the attack on the party chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence, posing threat to his life. He responded positively, assuring the BRS delegation that he would have the issues raised by it investigated.

A BRS delegation led by the party working president KT Rama Rao called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, and submitted a representation, explaining how its legislators were stopped on the road, prevented from entering the Assembly and also assaulted, despite their rights as elected representatives.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting, Rama Rao said the party had complained how police manhandled BRS members during their protest and women legislators were particularly targeted. He said photographs and other evidence related to the attack, including the alleged pulling of V Sunitha Laxma Reddy’s saree and dragging P Sabitha Indra Reddy by hair, were submitted to the Governor.

He said police complaints by the BRS against personnel involved in the incident were ignored, while the party was being blamed for the confrontation. He also accused the government of preventing BRS members from entering the Assembly and Council despite the High Court’s directions.

The BRS working president stated that the ruling Congress was using the issue of the Speaker by attributing remarks to the Council members that they had not made and portraying an alleged insult as an actual incident. He said the BRS had great respect for Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, but accused the Congress of repeatedly invoking his identity as a Dalit Speaker for political purposes.

The delegation also complained to the Governor about the alleged attack by the Congress legislators on Opposition leader and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s residence, posing a threat to his life. The BRS leaders pointed to the alleged campaign seeking Chandrashekhar Rao’s death and held Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directly responsible for the entire episode.

Rama Rao said the delegation had also brought to the Governor’s notice AI-generated photographs and videos allegedly released by the ruling Congress, targeting to insult the BRS leaders. He warned that the BRS would pursue legal action against those using false images and complaints.

He said the Governor had assured the delegation that he would look into every issue raised by it, including matters concerning the legislature and incidents outside it. He hoped that the Governor would intervene in the ongoing atrocities and ensure justice. If justice was not secured in Telangana, he said the BRS will approach the National Commission for Women and also explore other options.

The BRS legislators also briefed Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on the alleged failure of the Congress government to fulfil its promises during its 1,000-day rule and the hardships faced by farmers, unemployed students and youth. The delegation also highlighted the agitation by polytechnic students and their demands.
