BRS seeks regularisation of GO 76 lands in Kothagudem

BRS leaders have accused the Congress government of delaying the regularisation of SCCL lands under GO 76 in Kothagudem. They demanded a White Paper on pending applications and urged the government to announce a timeline for issuing pattas to eligible beneficiaries.

Kothagudem: The Congress government’s indifferent attitude towards the regularisation of SCCL lands has left a large number of residents in Kothagudem Municipal Corporation and other coal belt areas in the State waiting for pattas.

It may be recalled that the previous BRS regime had issued GO 76 in August 2019 in view of the long-pending demand of locals who were living unauthorisedly on SCCL lands. The locals wanted those lands to be regularised after the company handed them over to the government.

A large number of residential and commercial sites were regularised in two phases, while several hundred applications remained pending owing to technical and other issues. Hence, it was decided to take up regularisation in the third phase.

Speaking to Telangana Today, BRS leader Sankubapana Anudeep noted that the processing of applications received under the third phase was put on hold after the Assembly election code came into effect in October 2023. But there has been no progress since then.

Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao failed to fulfil his election promise of regularising lands and issuing pattas under GO 76 within 100 days of being elected. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, during the Assembly and municipal elections, also promised to address the issue. But there has been no development, much to the disappointment of the residents, he said.

The government should release a White Paper on the status of pattas issued under GO 76 in the Kothagudem constituency so far, how many applications remained pending, and the reasons for the delay in implementation, Anudeep demanded.

The party leaders Rangaraju Rajesh and Bathula Srinivas said GO 76 benefited a large number of residents in Kothagudem, Bhupalpally, Asifabad, Adilabad, Mancherial and Peddapalli districts, as the lands were regularised in two phases.

They demanded that the government explain what was preventing the implementation of GO 76 now and declare a specific timeline to clear the pending applications of poor families who have been waiting for pattas for years.
