Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators, led by party working president and MLA K T Rama Rao, on Monday met Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, seeking permission to introduce a Private Member Bill to give statutory backing to the Congress party’s ‘Six Guarantees’. Alleging delays in fulfilling the promises made during the Assembly elections, the party has been demanding that the government enact a law to implement the Six Guarantees.
Accompanied by BRS legislators, Rama Rao handed over the notice to the Speaker and also submitted a copy to the Assembly Secretary, requesting that the bill be allowed to be introduced during the ongoing Budget Session. Rama Rao said the proposed legislation was intended to ensure legal status for the Six Guarantees promised by the Congress to the people of Telangana. He urged the Speaker to permit discussion on this important public issue in the current session itself.
