Vikarabad: Senior BRS leaders from Vikarabad district on Saturday came down heavily on the Congress party’s padayatra, calling it a “hollow and staged exercise” held under police protection to mask its failure to connect with the public.
Addressing a press conference at former Pargi MLA Koppula Mahesh Reddy’s residence, BRS leaders including Methuku Anand, the party’s district president and former MLA, alleged that the Congress resorted to a padayatra only after failing to address key governance issues.
They claimed the previous BRS government had delivered on its promises—many of them beyond its election manifesto—while the Congress had failed to implement its six guarantees and 420 other public promises.
“Only 40% of farm loans have been waived. Two Rythu Bandhu installments have been skipped. The free bus scheme lacks enough buses, and ration card distribution is riddled with corruption,” said Anand.
He further alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy curtailed AICC leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s yatra to prevent her from gaining prominence. He also hinted at political opportunism, claiming Revanth prioritizes meetings with BJP leaders in Delhi over those with Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi.
