Karimnagar: BRS leaders and cadres on Monday staged protest demonstrations across the erstwhile Karimnagar district, demanding the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, taking moral responsibility for the POCSO case registered against Sai Bhageerath.

BRS district presidents, former MLAs and others participated in the protests. Besides holding placards, 100-foot-long flex banners carrying the message, “Bandi Sanjay, who does not have moral values, should resign immediately. Justice should be done to the minor girl,” were displayed.

The protest turned tense as BJP workers staged a counter-protest in Sircilla. Police had to use force to disperse the clashing groups.

Former MLAs Rasamai Balkishan, Sunke Ravishankar and V. Sathish Babu participated in the protests held in their respective constituencies. Balkishan participated in Manakondur, Ravishankar in Gangadhara and Sathish Babu in Huzurabad. In Karimnagar, district president G. V. Ramakrishna Rao, town president Challa Harishankar and others took part in the protest.

Speaking on the occasion, BRS leaders said that justice would not be done to the minor girl if Bandi Sanjay Kumar continued in the ministerial post, as there was a possibility of the investigation being influenced due to his position. They demanded that the central government suspend him from the Cabinet.
