Mahabubnagar: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday organised a Rythu Mahadharna protesting the delay in procurement operations at Vanguru mandal near Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s native village, Kondareddypally. Farmers turned up in large numbers for the protest and raised slogans against the Congress government.

Addressing the gathering, BRS General Secretary RS Praveen Kumar alleged that the Chief Minister did not have a soft corner for the farming community. “His only focus is on real estate and how to loot lands. Revanth Reddy knows only one thing, and that is carrying money bags to New Delhi,” he charged.

He also criticised the Chief Minister for failing to ensure completion of procurement of farmers’ stocks even in his native mandal. Trucks that were supposed to be arranged for shifting stocks from procurement centres were instead being diverted for sand mining activities, he alleged. “Does the Chief Minister have the courage to stop this menace?” he asked.

Questioning the Chief Minister’s claims of conducting review meetings for 18 hours a day, the BRS leader asked whether this was the kind of service being delivered by the “Nallamalla tiger” to his own mandal. “Apart from sending money bags to New Delhi, send a few gunny bags to procurement centres to speed up procurement,” Praveen Kumar demanded.

The BRS General Secretary wanted Cabinet Ministers to step out of their air-conditioned chambers and visit procurement centres to witness the hardships being faced by paddy, maize and cattle farmers. He alleged that bills of cattle farmers had remained unpaid for the last three months and accused the government of ignoring their issues.

“Ever since the Revanth Reddy government came to power, the farming community has been facing several hardships in the State,” he added.
