BRS student leaders demand apology over Revanth’s ‘criminal waste’ remark
BRS leaders and engineering graduates criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's alleged remarks on engineering students, demanding an apology from him and Rahul Gandhi while urging the government to focus on employment, fee reimbursement and strengthening higher education.
Hyderabad: BRS leaders and engineering graduates on Monday condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy‘s alleged remarks describing engineering students as “criminal waste”. They demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Chief Minister apologise immediately and focus on resolving students’ problems instead of targeting them with what they termed irresponsible statements.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav said such remarks by the Chief Minister could undermine Telangana’s image as an investment destination. He asserted that if there were shortcomings in engineering education, it was the government’s responsibility to address them rather than demean students and engineers.
BRS leader Anugula Rakesh Reddy said engineers from Telangana were contributing globally and helping enhance the country’s reputation, including in the space sector. He criticised the government over its handling of employment promises and recruitment and demanded that the assurances made to the youth be fulfilled.
BRS leader Chirumalla Rakesh Kumar alleged that the government had failed to clear fee reimbursement dues despite concerns over students’ education. He said students were being forced to discontinue their studies because of unpaid fees and demanded the immediate release of the arrears.
He also alleged that the government had failed to implement promises, including a Rs 5 lakh education assurance card and scooters for girl students. He demanded faster recruitment, the strengthening of the education system and an end to remarks insulting students.
