Hyderabad: The president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) wing, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, along with 20 student leaders, was arrested by the police at Osmania University on Saturday while distributing pamphlets highlighting the alleged adverse impacts of the Banakacherla project on Telangana.
The arrests took place as the student leaders were peacefully raising awareness among students about the project, which they claim is being illegally constructed by the Andhra Pradesh government, causing injustice to Telangana.
According to sources, the BRSV leaders were explaining the implications of the Banakacherla project to students when the police intervened and detained them before transferring them to the Lalaguda Police Station.
The arrested leaders include Gellu Srinivas Yadav, Kishore Goud, Tunga Balu, Kadari Swami Yadav, G.D. Anil, Katam Shiva, Naresh, Avinash, Satish, Nagender, and Srikanth, among others.
