BRS sweeps Gajwel and Toopran municipalities in KCR’s constituency
The BRS has won both municipalities in the Gajwel constituency, represented by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. In Gajwel, the party secured 11 of 20 wards, while Congress won seven, BJP one, and an Independent one.
Siddipet: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi won both municipalities in the Gajwel constituency despite the ruling Congress party allegedly going all out to lure voters with multiple offers, including money and liquor.
Gajwel, the headquarters of the constituency represented in the Assembly by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, was secured by the BRS. The party won 11 of the 20 wards, while the Congress and BJP managed to secure seven and one wards respectively. An Independent candidate won the remaining ward.
With the cushion of an ex-officio member’s vote in the form of MLA Chandrashekhar Rao, the election of the chairperson and vice-chairperson is expected to be a smooth affair for the party.
The BRS also registered a decisive victory in Toopran municipality, another civic body in the constituency, winning nine of the 16 wards. The Congress and BJP secured four and three wards respectively. The BRS is set to claim both the chairperson and vice-chairperson posts without opposition.
