Sangareddy: The BRS swept the Patancheru constituency, bagging all the chairperson posts in five municipalities. It was the only constituency after Gajwel, represented by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, where the BRS swept all municipalities in the State. Though it secured a majority of wards in five municipalities in Patancheru, it fell short of the majority mark in three municipalities.

Under the guidance of former Minister T Harish Rao, Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy and constituency coordinator V Adharsh Reddy, the party garnered the support of independents and other parties and won all five municipalities.

The BRS also won both municipalities, Gajwel and Toopran, in Gajwel constituency. In Patancheru, the BRS secured an outright majority in Gaddapotharam and Gummadidala municipalities, winning 14 out of 18 wards and 15 out of 22 wards, respectively.

However, it fell short by one ward in Indresham, where the BRS secured nine out of 18 wards and later formed the municipality with the support of an independent member. In Jinnaram, it shared power with the BJP after securing eight out of 20 wards.

In Isnapur, where the BRS won 12 out of 26 wards, it bagged the chairperson post with the support of ex officio member votes and independents, completing a clean sweep. BRS leaders said it was the best birthday gift they could give to K Chandrashekhar Rao on his 72nd birthday.

Mahipal Reddy said the collective effort of BRS leaders and cadre helped the party sweep the polls, while Harish Rao led from the front in campaigning and provided constant guidance.
