Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has decided to intensify its agitation against the Congress government over the alleged failure to implement promises made to students and unemployed youth under the “Youth Declaration.” The agitation is aimed at reminding the government of its promises and increasing pressure on it.

The party working president KT Rama Rao, is set to lead a key meeting with students and youth leaders at Telangana Bhavan on May 30. The BRS will also organise a “Chalo Saroornagar” public meeting at the same Saroornagar Stadium where the Congress party had unveiled its “Youth Declaration” before the Assembly elections.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, BRS Legislature Party deputy leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the Congress government had failed to fulfil major promises, including providing two lakh jobs, releasing a job calendar, enhancing fee reimbursement and extending support for overseas education.

He said the youth had been waiting for the implementation of these assurances for the past two-and-a-half years and warned that the government would face their wrath with students growing unrest over pending fee reimbursement dues.

BRSLP deputy leader P Sabitha Indra Reddy accused the Congress government of systematically weakening the education sector by delaying fee reimbursement payments and failing to release adequate funds to universities. She demanded that the government immediately clarify its stand on fee reimbursement and direct educational institutions not to harass students for fees.

She also questioned the delay in filling vacant government posts and alleged that the Congress government lacked seriousness in addressing youth and student issues.

LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy said the party would continue to exert pressure on the government until the promises made by Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were implemented.
