Hyderabad: BRS leaders will meet Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Tuesday seeking a comprehensive probe into large-scale irregularities in the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). A delegation led by BRS working president KT Rama Rao is scheduled to submit a detailed representation, explaining how the Congress government presided over a massive corruption racket involving public funds worth thousands of crores.
The party leaders would submit documentary evidence before the Governor and press for immediate action against those responsible. The Chief Minister, his relatives, the Deputy Chief Minister and other Ministers have been accused of direct or indirect involvement. The BRS will argue that those facing such serious allegations have no moral right to continue in office.
Senior MLAs, MPs and key functionaries will join the delegation and lodge their formal protest at the Raj Bhavan.
The move follows a series of questions raised by former Minister T Harish Rao, who recently revealed multiple scams, including manipulation of tender rules in Singareni to favour select contractors. He said that the introduction of site visit conditions in overburden and other contracts curtailed competition and inflated project costs, leading to substantial losses to the State-run coal major.
