Karimnagar: The BRS has urged Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar to prove his sincerity by producing his son Sai Bhageerath, who was booked under the POCSO Act, before the police and cooperate with the investigation.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, BRS district president GV Ramakrishna Rao and former MLA Rasamai Balkishan said Sanjay Kumar, who always spoke about dharma, culture and moral values, should first implement them within his own family. They found fault with the police for not arresting Bageerath. If he was absconding, what were the intelligence, IB and Special Branch police doing, they questioned.

If a POCSO case was registered against a common person, the police would have arrested him immediately. However, in this case, special treatment was allegedly being provided to the Union Minister’s son. The government should explain the reasons behind appointing a special officer in sensitive cases such as those under the POCSO Act. Was a similar process being implemented in other POCSO cases as well? Was special protection being provided to Sanjay Kumar’s son, they questioned.

They also questioned whether the SIT was intended to unearth facts or suppress the case. According to Section 19 of the POCSO Act, people hiding facts were also punishable, they said. Hence, the police should take action against Sanjay Kumar as well as his PRO, who allegedly hid facts. They demanded that the government take serious action against the accused by conducting a comprehensive investigation.
