Karimnagar: Bharatha Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) activists on Wednesday staged a protest at the Collectorate here against the state government’s indifferent attitude towards releasing the pending fee reimbursement amounts.
As part of the BRSV State Committee’s “Hello Vidyarthi–Challo Collectorate” call, the district unit organised the protest. Earlier, activists took out a rally from Telangana Chowk to the Collectorate, where they staged a dharna and raised slogans against the State government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Tension prevailed when a jostle broke out between BRSV workers and the police after the protesters tried to force their way into the Collectorate premises. Police personnel deployed in large numbers took several activists into custody and shifted them to the police station after forcibly boarding them into police vehicles.
Addressing the gathering, the activists criticised Revanth Reddy for being least concerned about students who were facing hardships due to the delay in fee reimbursement. They demanded the immediate release of the pending amounts and warned that the agitation would be intensified if the government failed to act.
