Hyderabad: Police on Monday arrested several leaders and activists of the BRS student wing (BRSV) and youth wing (BRSY) after they attempted to march from Telangana Bhavan to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s camp office carrying blood packets collected during a blood donation camp. The protest march was organised against the Chief Minister’s remarks about spilling the blood of BRS leaders when questioned about irrigation water for farmers.
BRSV and BRSY organised the blood donation drive under the theme, “Blood Donation for Revanth Reddy’s Blood Thirst”, as a symbolic response to his comments at Telangana Bhavan. Former Ministers V Srinivas Goud and C Laxma Reddy, MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and K Sanjay, former MLC Karne Prabhakar and former MLA Balka Suman inaugurated the programme.
Heavy police deployment was made around Telangana Bhavan as activists, led by BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav and vice president Tunga Balu, sought to proceed towards the Chief Minister’s camp office carrying blood packets. The police intercepted the march and detained the BRSV and BRSY leaders before they could leave the premises.
BRSV leaders Gellu Srinivas Yadav and Tunga Balu said the protest was intended to demand irrigation water for farmers and condemn the Chief Minister’s remarks.
