Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV) State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav blamed the Congress government for failing to regulate engineering fees. He charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for ignoring students’ welfare while focusing on beauty pageants.

Addressing a press meet at Telangana Bhavan, Srinivas Yadav said the engineering fee had shot up from Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 2.8 lakh, burdening nearly one lakh families across the State. “There is no fee regulation mechanism in place. The Chief Minister who holds the education portfolio, has not reviewed the issue even once,” he said.

He alleged that some engineering colleges were operating as a syndicate and cheating the government and people alike through fake reports. “The government must act against such institutions and stop yielding to their pressure for fee hikes,” he demanded.

Reminding the Congress’s poll promise of free engineering education and Rs 5 lakh aid per student, the BRSV leader questioned the government’s failure to ensure it. Criticising the Chief Minister’s recent claims that the government lacked funds, Srinivas Yadav retorted, “If the State government has no money, how will the poor manage?”
