Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi (BRSV), the student wing of the BRS, has demanded cancellation of Nova Medical College’s recognition, alleging that the institution lacks facilities mandated by the National Medical Commission (NMC).

BRSV also demanded the dismissal of officials responsible for allegedly granting permissions to the college and sought criminal action against them.

BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav, along with student leaders, visited the college on Monday and attempted to confront the management over alleged deficiencies in infrastructure, facilities and faculty. Police intervened and arrested the BRSV leaders before taking them to the Abdullapurmet police station.

Speaking to the media, Mr Srinivas Yadav alleged that 21 departments existed only on paper and claimed that the college lacked adequate faculty, classrooms, laboratories, hostel facilities and cadavers.

He questioned how the college, established in 2024, was allotted 250 MBBS seats when several older private and government medical colleges did not have a similar intake capacity.

Mr Srinivas Yadav further alleged that officials of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences, the State medical department and the NMC had colluded to grant permissions based on false inspection reports despite the alleged lack of necessary facilities.
