Hyderabad: BRTU State president Rambabu Yadav on Friday said workers across Telangana were in a state of unrest and were forced to go on strike, with the Congress government failing to address their issues. He announced full support to the proposed RTC workers’ strike on April 22 and called on BRTU units in all districts to back the protest. He also extended support to electricity workers currently on strike across the State.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, Rambabu Yadav alleged that promises made before the elections, including a Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for RTC staff, remained unfulfilled. He said thousands of farmers and workers were facing hardship while the government claimed to have resolved the issues. He also accused the government of using intimidation tactics and making arrests of protesting workers, including ASHA workers.
BRTU general secretary Marayya alleged threats against workers and irregular fee hikes in the transport sector. He demanded immediate action on 32 pending issues and warned of intensified protests if the grievances were not addressed.
