Hyderabad: Inspired by a call given by BRS working president KT Rama Rao, BRTU State president and Civil Supplies Hamali Workers Union State president Hamali Srinivas provided insurance coverage to 183 drivers in Uppal constituency. Rama Rao handed over accident insurance certificates to five of the beneficiaries on the occasion of May Day on Friday.

Srinivas said after the Congress government stopped accident insurance scheme initiated by the previous BRS government, he had decided to continue the scheme for cab, auto, trolley and DCM van drivers in Mallapur Shaktinagar division. He said BRS working president Rama Rao who spent personal funds to provide insurance coverage to drivers in Sircilla constituency inspired him to extend similar support in personal capacity.

He extended similar support to around 150 workers from unorganised sector on the occasion of BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s birthday earlier this year.

On the occasion, Rama Rao appreciated Srinivas for supporting workers and urged wider efforts for their welfare. He assured to revive the accident insurance scheme after the party returns to power.
