Hyderabad: A third-year engineering student was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his classmate after making her consume alcohol in Ibrahimpatnam on the suburbs.

The incident came to light after the victim recently approached police and lodged a complaint.


According to police, the suspect, identified as Uday from Choutuppal, reportedly took the student to Dilsukhnagar, saying they would go out for tea.

During the return journey, he allegedly purchased liquor and later made the woman drink in the BDL area.

Police said the suspect then took the victim, who was under the influence of alcohol, to a room in Ibrahimpatnam and allegedly raped her.

Following the complaint, a case was registered and the suspect was arrested produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
