Burglars steal jewellery worth Rs.40 lakh from astrologer in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Burglars struck at an astrologer’s house in New Venkataramana Colony in Bandlaguda in LB Nagar and decamped with precious stones and other jewelry worth at least Rs.40 lakhs, police said here on Friday.
The incident occurred when the house owner Balamurali Krishna, an astrologer, went to his native place along with his wife and children to attend a function a few days ago.
According to the police, it suspected that the burglars broke into the house by damaging the main door lock and opened the almirah and flicked precious stones and jewelry before fleeing.
The incident came to light when the neighbours noticed the main door lock open in the morning. The estimation of the stolen material is suspected to be around Rs 40 lakh, sources said.
The LB Nagar police have booked a case and are investigating. They suspect it to be the work of local gangs.
The footage from the surveillance cameras in the surroundings is being examined.
