Bus carrying Ayyappa devotees from Hyderabad overturns, driver killed, 8 injured

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a bus carrying Ayyappa Swamy devotees from the city, overturned on a ghat road at Kanamala Attivalam in Kottayam, about 15 km from the Pampa river, in Kerala, killing the bus driver and injuring eight others.
The bus was carrying at least 22 Ayyappa devotees from Upparguda in Madannapet of the old city.
As per available information, the bus was proceeding from Kottayam to Sabarimala, carrying Guru Swamy Rampal Yadav, Abhi Yadav, Ram Yadav Peddi Yadav and others.
On reaching the ghat road, the driver, Raju (51), is suspected to have lost control while negotiating the curve and overturned falling on three trees.
While the driver who suffered grievious injuries died on the spot, the injured devotees were shifted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital for treatment.
