Hyderabad: A businessman died by suicide due to alleged blackmail and extortion by his girlfriend and her parents at Vanasthalipuram on Saturday night.

The man, D Chandraiah (24), a native of Nagarkurnool, stayed in a rented room at Vanasthalipuram for last few months.

According to the police, Chandraiah got acquainted with a woman, T Srija, and both became friends, and her parents knew about it. However, it is unclear what transpired on Saturday evening, but Chandraiah hanged himself from the ceiling fan in the room and reportedly committed suicide.

“In a suicide note purportedly written by Chandraiah, and found in the house, the victim alleged that Srija and her parents blackmailed him using AI morphed photos and collected Rs 6 lakh. They were demanding more money from him,” said Inspector Vanasthalipuram, T Mahesh said.

A case is registered against Srija and her parents. An investigation is going on.
