Mancherial: A man and five others were arrested for thrashing his father and robbing him of a 1 tola gold chain at Vempalli village in Hajipur mandal, on Saturday. Police recovered the gold chain, Rs 30,670 and seized two motorbikes from them.

Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Ambar Kishore Jha, in a statement, said the accused were Nagireddy Ramesh, a businessman, Sollu Avinash, Mamadipalli Chandu, both car drivers, Atla Santhosh, a painter, Ande Ashok, Ande Ashok, electrician and Chintala Krishna, a bore well driller worker, all from different parts of Mancherial town. The complaint was Satyanandam, father of Ramesh.

On being interrogated, Ramesh confessed to committing the crime after nursing a grudge against his father following some family disputes, by taking assistance from the five. He admitted to assaulting his father and snatching the gold chain from him by barging into his house on Friday. He disclosed that he hired the five by offering Rs 50,000 to Avinash and his friends.

Jha and DCP A Bhaskar commended Mancherial Rural Inspector Akula Ashok, Hajipur Sub-Inspector Gopathi Naresh, CCC SI Nelki Sugunakar, ASI Azaz, constables Chandrashekhar, Narender and SK Pasha for solving the case quickly by nabbing the accused persons.
