Hyderabad: The buzz has started to return to the campuses. With the Covid pandemic pushing in the online pursuit of academics and students remaining hooked to their computers and smartphones, the otherwise bustling campuses of big and small colleges and sprawling university premises have remained almost deserted for last several months.
Now with the decision to return to physical classes most of the campuses have begun to experience again the buzz that went missing since coronavirus started to disrupt normal life.
The first year of any graduation course, presents students with a lot of new experiences – meeting new people, making friends, managing academic workload while enjoying every festival organised on the campus.
Unfortunately, thousands of students from the 2020-21 academic batches had to make do with virtual experiences of college life. As school students started their graduate courses online, the real experience of transitioning from school to college environment was lost.
However, as the college campuses across the nation have reopened, these students will be able to meet their peers in person and experience the college campus life. Lakhs of excited students, who spent many months stuck in their houses, welcomed the reopening and attended college. Following a bunch of special Covid-19 guidelines, the college managements ensured that students follow social distancing strictly, even when inside the classrooms.
College is about much more than just course work and academics. A campus is its own world, and students have the chance to experience a wide range of activities – from being part of stage performances, to volunteering to improve their communities, and play sports to forming their own musical band. Cooped up for too long at home, students will finally be able to enjoy these aspects of college life, which will help them with an all-round development.
Reopening of institutions is especially important for the final year students. Not only will they be able to enjoy their last year of college with their friends, but it will be beneficial for their academics, as they will be able to access the library as well as consult their teacher whenever required.
