Hyderabad: Think of biryani, one might imagine some nicely cooked basmati rice with either vegetables or non-vegetarian options. However, the Cafe Ethnic in Zaheerabad, run by the Deccan Development Society has brought a healthy twist to the tasty savoury – Millet Biryani!
The cafe which has been serving a variety of healthy food options over years thought of also making healthy foods interesting for families and kids who walk in the venue in Sangareddy district.
“We have always tried to make different varieties of delicacies with millets so we wanted to try millet biryani as well. Simply, instead of rice, we serve vegetable biryani using millets,” shares Srinivas Reddy, manager of Café Ethnic.
Srinivas also adds that the delicacy has been receiving immense love from many of the visitors.
“We have observed that post-pandemic, people now prefer healthier options more than the regular foods. Thus, we have seen an increasing number of families walk in along with their kids and inculcate a habit of eating healthy. We are trying to offer a wide variety of options,” shares Srinivas.
Apart from millet biryani, Cafe Ethnic also offers millet sambar rice, millet thali, multi-millet phulka, a variety of rotis like – jonna, sajja, ragi, pudina, and palak. The organic cafe also gives a perfect village vibe with its decor – dry grass rooftops and bamboo blinds.
