Hyderabad: State unit of Congress party continued its appeal to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to cancel Huzurabad bypoll, citing violation of model code of conduct.
Former MP Sircilla Rajaiah alleged that both BJP and TRS parties had offered liquor and distributed money as a means to woo the voters in the constituency.
“This is undemocratic. ECI should cancel the Huzurabad bypoll and save democracy,” said Rajaiah while addressing mediapersons here on Saturday. To curb these corrupt practices, the ECI should facilitate online voting and make some amendments, if required, he suggested.
Meanwhile, AICC Telangana in-charge Manickam Tagore held a meeting with party leaders at Gandhi Bhavan to discuss modalities for party’s digital membership drive, which will commence from November 1.
The party is planning to conduct Jana Jagarana programmes from November 14 to expose the State and Central governments’ failures. TPCC president A Revanth Reddy and other leaders attended the meeting.
