Siddipet: Former minister T Harish Rao called upon women aged above 40 years to undergo cancer screening tests without fail. Addressing a gathering after launching the two-day cancer screening camp organised by Sindhu Cancer Hospital at Vipanchi Auditorium in the town on Wednesday, Harish Rao said cancer cases have been increasing alarmingly in the state every year.

Rao said Telangana was recording over 50,000 cancer cases every year, which underlines the importance of women undergoing screening tests. The former minister said Dr Parthasarathi, owner of Sindhu Cancer Hospitals, had agreed to set up a cancer screening centre near LV Prasad Hospital in Siddipet shortly.

Hailing Dr Parthasarathi for the services he was rendering, he said he would extend all support to Sindhu Hospitals to set up the cancer screening centre in Siddipet. Stating that he had established a medical college and a 1,000-bed hospital when he was a minister in the BRS government, the former minister said the Congress government could not provide even five per cent of the funds required to complete the remaining works at the hospital during the last two and a half years. He accused the Congress of neglecting the Siddipet hospital after coming to power. Later, Rao also felicitated students who cleared IIT-JEE and secured admission to IITs, NITs and IIITs.
