Hyderabad: A robbery gang targeted a car and attempted to rob its driver at Rallaguda in Shamshabad on the city outskirts late on Sunday.

The three-member gang had stopped the car asking for a lift and after going for some distance, threatened and tried to rob the driver at knife-point.

The driver, who got scared, lost control of the steering wheel and the car crashed into a tree on the roadside. Two persons were injured.

The Shamshabad police have taken two persons into custody.
