Hyderabad: A woman died on the spot after she was hit by a speeding car while two persons in the car were injured near Ellaa Hotel in Gachibowli on Friday. Rash driving led to the mishap, police said.
The victim, M Maheshwari (38), who was working as the gardener at Ellaa Hotel for nearly a decade, was residing in the servant quarters on the hotel premises. According to the Gachibowli police, Maheshwari was watering the plants at the main entrance around 6pm, when the car went out of control and hit her.
“She died on the spot. Two persons in the car, including a woman, were critically injured. Passersby shifted them to hospital,” Gachibowli Sub-inspector K Radhika Yadav said, adding that their identities were being verified.
It was yet to be known if the driver was under the influence of alcohol, the SI said.
The Gachibowli police have booked a case for negligence causing death and injuries and are investigating. The car driver was yet to be arrested while the car was seized. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
