Hyderabad: The Karkhana police have booked a case against a rehabilitation centre after a two-and-a-half-year-old differently-abled child was allegedly assaulted during therapy sessions.
According to the complainant A Priyanka, a resident of AP Housing Colony in Medchal, she had joined her son, who is suffering with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), for therapy at Pinnacle Center in Vikrampuri in August by paying Rs.56,000. “During the therapy sessions which lasted for nearly two hours, the child alone was allowed and his mother was asked to wait outside,” police said.
On September 3, Priyanka took her son for the therapy and after the session, the child came out crying. When they reached home, she noticed several marks on his back till the waist. “When she approached the management, they denied anything of such sort and also refused to show the CCTV footage from the premises. They also abused her,” police said, adding that based on the complaint, the Karkhana police booked a case under the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Juvenile Justice Act against the management.
Investigation is on.
