Warangal: For a motorist in Warangal, being caught 10 times earlier for drunk driving proved no deterrent, with his reckless behaviour finally landing him behind bars for the 11th time he repeated the offence.
A resident of Bommera village in Palakurthi mandal, Shivarathri Devaiah was once again found driving under the influence of alcohol during drunk driving checks conducted by Kazipet traffic police on Tuesday night, under Warangal Police Commissionerate limits. The checks were carried out on the directions of Warangal Commissioner of Police Sunpreet Singh.
During the drive, police intercepted Devaiah and confirmed that he was driving in an inebriated condition, repeating an offence for which he had already been booked 10 times earlier. Despite multiple cases, the motorist continued to flout the law, prompting the police to take a tougher stand. He was produced before Second Class Magistrate S Fatima Chinnappa on Wednesday.
Taking serious note of the repeated violations, the magistrate sentenced Devaiah to 30 days of imprisonment, Kazipet Traffic Inspector Venkanna said.
