Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the Project Director, PIU, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Warangal, and a private person while accepting a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a man.
The CBI had registered a case on Tuesday against the Project Director and a private person on allegations that they had demanded an undue advantage of Rs 1 lakh for not causing any hindrance to the operation of the complainant’s restaurant situated adjacent to the Hyderabad–Warangal Highway near Gudur Toll Plaza, Bibinagar, Telangana.
The demand for the bribe was conveyed through the private person.
After negotiation, the Project Director allegedly agreed to receive Rs 60,000, assuring the complainant that during his five-year tenure as Project Director, PIU, NHAI, Warangal, there would be no problem for the restaurant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught both the Project Director and the private person red-handed on Tuesday while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 60,000. Both the accused were arrested and are being produced before the court.
Searches were also conducted at three locations in Hyderabad, Warangal and Sadashivpet, where incriminating documents were seized.
The case is under investigation.
