Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested National Institute for Smart Government Assistant Manager Jai Prakash Gupta and another person in a bribery case.
The institute’s head office is located in the financial district in Nanakramguda in Hyderabad. Gupta works as a State Resource Person (SRP) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in Jaipur under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of UIDAI with the institute.
A CBI press release on Friday said a case was registered against a private firm owner Hemraj Tanwar based in Jaipur and an unidentified public servant of UIDAI posted in Delhi and Jaipur on a complaint alleging that Tanwar demanded Rs.25,000 from a complainant in the case in the name of unknown public servants of UIDAI for facilitating the complainant restore his operator ID which was suspended in March 2021.
The CBI officials laid a trap against Tanwar and caught him while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from the complainant. Since the role of Gupta was also established in the case, the CBI arrested him.
Searches were also conducted on the premises of both Tanwar and Gupta.
