Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested six more persons in an ongoing investigation of a case related to making derogatory posts on social media against judges and the judiciary.

The arrested have been identified as Sridhar Reddy Avuthu, Jalagam Venkata Satyanarayana, Guda Sridhar Reddy, Sreenath Suswaram, Kishore Kumar Darisa alias Kishore Reddy Darisa and Sudduluri Ajay Amruth.

The CBI had registered a case on November 11, 2020 against 16 accused and taken over the investigation of 12 FIRs from Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) in pursuance of the orders of AP High Court in a writ petition of 2020.

The original FIRs were registered on the complaints from Registrar General of AP High Court. It was alleged that the key personnel occupying posts of prominence in AP by intentionally targeting the judiciary, made derogatory posts on social media platform against judges and judiciary following some court verdicts delivered by the judges of AP High Court.

The action was also initiated by CBI after it had registered this case to get objectionable posts removed from the social media platforms, public domains and a lot of such posts/accounts were removed from internet.

During the investigation, the CBI had earlier arrested five persons and also filed five separate charge sheets against them. The investigation is continuing including through the channels of MLAT and INTEROL to collect evidence from abroad.
