Hyderabad: A city-based construction company has been named in an FIR issued by the New Delhi unit of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a bribery case booked by it.
The CBI named nine persons including the then Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL) CMD Moyukh Bhaduri and others in the FIR. The case was booked under the provisions of Section 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.
According to the FIR, the bribe amount was transferred from the bank account of the Hyderabad-based construction company to award the project related to construction of a Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum in Varanasi to another company. The names of two more senior officials including a general manager of HSCL were also named as accused in the FIR. The CBI has carried out a preliminary inquiry.
The HSCL, a public sector undertaking under the Steel Ministry, was appointed as Project Management Service Provider (PMSP) for executing the museum project in 2015. The tendering process was later cancelled.
