Sangareddy: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a former employee of the Ordnance Factory, Yeddumailaram on charges of holding disproportionate assets to his known sources of income.

The CBI registered cases under multiple sections against scale-4 officer Gopal Maashetty, who had worked as stores incharge from 2010 to 2024 and his wife Aruna, residents of Yeddumailaram in Sangareddy district. Gopal retired in June 2024. A private person Amith Sharma filed a case against Gopal on April 27, 2024 after which the CBI launched an investigation into the complaint.

Officials found that Gopal and his wife were holding 773 per cent more disproportionate assets compared to his known sources of income during this period. They also recovered 338 documents after conducting searches simultaneously at three locations.

The CBI, in a press release, said that they found the disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 2.17 crore. Cases under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and other sections were registered on June 9. A probe is still on.
