The gangrape of a mentally challenged woman was noticed by policemen who were watching CCTV footage in connection with a cattle theft case in Medak district
Medak: In a shocking discovery, police stumbled upon CCTV visuals of a woman being gang-raped. The footage led to the arrest of three persons, while the victim, a mentally unstable woman, was shifted to the local Bharosa Centre for treatment.
How the police stumbled upon the shocking visuals was even more bizarre. Following a complaint on a cattle theft lodged by a farmer, the police were scanning CCTV footage when they accidentally saw the rape visuals, with the incident that happened at Ramanthapur village of Chegunta mandal said to have occurred on Friday.
The three persons, who were seen sexually assaulting the woman, were then identified and arrested. Police said the accused, Gouri Basvaraj, Sayyed Afroz and Mohd Sohail, were nabbed and produced before the court. The court remanded them in judicial custody. Meanwhile, the police also traced the victim, who was shifted to the Bharosa Centre for treatment.
