Mancherial: The celestial wedding of the presiding deity of Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Devasthanam with Sri Rama Devi was performed on the premises of the ancient temple on a grand note at Gudem village in Dandepalli mandal on Sunday.
Mancherial MLA K Premsagar Rao along with Collector Kumar Deepak presented silk clothing to the deities and participated in the ceremonies.
The Mahapournami Jatara was going to be celebrated on February 12. According to the officials of the shrine, special homams would be performed from February 10 and 12.
Rathotsavam or procession of the deities in a chariot will be organized on February 13, marking the culmination of the ceremonies. Around 2 lakh devotees from not only different places of erstwhile Adilabad the district, but neighboring Jatial, Karimnagar, and Hyderabad are expected to congregate at the temple during the annual festivities.
Regarded as Annavaram of Telangana, the abode of Sri Satyanarayana Swamy is situated on the banks of Godavari. It is thronged by pilgrims belonging to several parts of Telangana, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
