Hyderabad: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers JP Nadda has assured full support to Telangana farmers, promising to prevent any fertiliser shortage for the ongoing Vanakalam (Kharif) season. The assurance came after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met the Union Minister in Delhi, seeking timely supply of urea and other fertilisers during July and August, which are key for cultivation.

Responding positively, Nadda directed officials from the Fertilisers department to ensure that Telangana receives its required quota without delay. He urged the State government officials to oversee fair distribution across districts and prevent diversion of urea for non-agricultural purposes.

On the occasion, the Union Minister raised concern over the rising urea consumption in Telangana. Citing data, he noted that urea sales in the 2024–25 Yasangi season saw a 21 per cent spike compared to the previous year. He asked the government to initiate corrective measures through the Centre’s PM-PRANAM scheme to curb excessive chemical fertiliser usage and promote organic and natural farming practices.
